We are looking for a Model Based Engineering (MBE) Director in the Electronic Systems (ES) sector' US Defense organization. This role is responsible for setting the MBE and Digital Engineering (DE) vision and strategy for the ES Sector and responsible for all aspects of Model Based Systems Engineering's performance in support of US Defense business areas, including the application of MBE processes, tools, talent acquisition, talent development, and program performance. You will be responsible for building and leading a team of MBSE experts, ~60 engineers strong, who support 1300+ Systems Engineers as they transition to MBE. You will lead a borderless organization through a digital transformation that embraces model-based engineering, digital threads, DevSecOps, and agile development, and aligns with the ES engineering organization. Specific responsibilities include:
- Provide the vision and strategy to develop and maintain a high-performing organization.
- Guide organizational transformation to embrace and execute model-based engineering methods and tools.
- Partner with the Functional Discipline Directors (DD) and Business Area Engineering Directors (BAEDs) to ensure model based engineering business objectives are achieved.
- Attract and retain high-potential employees to support the business; resolve resource / staffing issues.
- Identify and develop critical MBE skills required to meet business objectives.
- Meet financial objectives (indirect expenses and labor utilization).
- Develop strategies for improving and optimizing organizational performance.
- Develop and maintain measures related to performance, quality and affordability of MBE solutions and lead adoption and continuous improvement activities.
- Establish goals and standards of performance, create budgets, staffing plans, and short and long-term strategic roadmaps/plans.
- Understand industry trends and best practices to ensure BAE Systems develops and maintains the capabilities required to provide technical discriminators.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

- BS in Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of related DoD engineering leadership roles
- Active Top Secret Clearance
- Demonstrated technical leadership and Model-Based Engineering (MBE) expertise
- Ability to formulate a strategic vision, define and implement action plans to achieve goals in a changing environment
- Sound understanding of Systems Engineering processes and Lifecycle Management (LCM) Framework and LCM reviews.
- Proven track record of developing high performance teams and affecting organization change
- US Citizenship and ability to be granted a Top Secret security clearance by the Federal Government
- Strong collaboration, integration, communication and leadership skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills
- New Business strategy and business development experience including supporting proposal efforts
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Current DoD TS/SCI clearance
- MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics
- Modelling Simulation Visualization and Analysis (MSVA) experience
- Understanding of government policies and practices for Model-Based Engineering
- Experience with Agile Development practices for planning, executing, and delivering capability
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple development programs with competing/conflicting resource requirements
- Proficient in Systems Engineering tools including DOORS, MagicDraw/Cameo, EASparx, Rhapsody and/or MATLAB
- Understands the UML and SysML model
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $169630 - $288370
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
