Position: Equipment Engineer
Location: Walnut Creek, CA
30 Month Contract
Description:
- Network Equipment Engineer
What you’ll be doing…
- Ordering equipment per design specifications, tracking orders, and managing suppliers.
- Assisting with materials for 4G and 5G equipment designs following maintenance engineering standards.
- Creating statements of work for specific engineering projects.
- Managing multiple projects, engaging resources, and communicating with collaborators across multiple disciplines.
- Accurately updating milestones within project management tools to ensure task readiness.
- Being a subject matter expert on tools, equipment, and the wireless engineering process flow.
- Meeting regional plan-of-record goals and financial targets.
- Determining equipment needs and ordering/integrating a wide range of equipment like antennas, power systems, and fiber optic cables.
- Working closely with other Network teams (RF Design, Operations, Real Estate, Construction, Facilities, System Performance) to implement new technologies and services.
- Playing a pivotal role in the successful implementation of small cells, macro cells, and/or in-building for the Tristate market.
What we’re looking for…
- Project oversight in Databases (Fuze), managing project creation, cancellations, and on-hold status changes.
- Coordinating, supporting, and assisting real estate and construction with power company engagement and requirements.
- Applying project management skills to new build and 5G programs.
- Collaborating and coordinating with multiple Network teams (RF Design, Real Estate, Transport, Construction, Network Assurance, System Performance) to ensure proper implementation of technology upgrades.
- Communicating deployment schedules and priorities with vendors.
- Monitoring compliance with all Verizon Wireless and industry standards and practices.
- Ensuring inspections and verifications are performed for all installs and that quality standards are met.
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Three or more years of relevant work experience.
- Previous experience managing large-scale projects that interface between multiple teams.
- Experience in vendor management, equipment ordering, and forecasting.
- Experience in reading, understanding, and commenting on construction drawings.
- Experience in 4G network architecture and CRAN architecture.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- A degree.
- Experience in designing and implementing wireless communications systems.
- Experience with cell site and small cell design for wireless cellular systems.
- Experience in project management of large projects.
- Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.
- High-level knowledge of 5G network architecture and equipment.
- Ability to lead technical discussions with a group of individuals in the industry with varying technical positions.
- Understanding of IP assignments and the OSI model protocols.
- Experience managing a team.
