Gainesville Regional Utilities' Energy Delivery Department is seeking to fill qualified IT/Engineer Support Intern vacancies. These highly motivated, responsible individuals will work as IT/Engineering Support Interns on various system operations related projects within the department.
INTERN: Energy Delivery Support
The nature of this work involves monitoring, configuring, and supporting the SCADA/OMS systems, crew managements systems, integrating with other IT systems, assisting, creating and implementing documentation for processes and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to interpret and work from technical manuals, the ability, and willingness to solve hardware and software systems issues with assistance and to observe all proper and safe work practices including use of tools, communication and testing equipment to ensure the safety of systems, hardware for self an others.
To be considered for these positions candidates must be currently enrolled in an institution of higher education and possess at least a 2.0 GPA as a minimum requirement.
Preferred Requirements include:
Interns actively engaged in hands-on experience in the following, configuration of computer systems, networking devices and/or programming language training, customer support and a 3.0 GPA.
Interns should be currently enrolled in an AS or Bachelor's degree program.
Preferred: Electrical engineering, Computer science major
Additional essential job functions will be discussed at the interview and may include but are not limited to the following:
•Assisting Technical Systems Analyst with creating real-time html reports based on information from sql server, writing queries in sql server, and retrieving data from mongoDB.
•Assisting Systems Engineer with configuration, administration, management of computer systems and workstations.
•Assist in writing, reviewing, updating computer programming scripts
•Acting as first point of contact to log, classify user queries, requests, and problems in support of the various computer, network and associated peripheral equipment.
•Troubleshooting, isolating and determines root cause to resolve routine and intermediate level user queries, requests and issues using established checklists and guidelines.
•Performing end user assistance by phone, in person or via remote desktop application

· Internship may extend beyond more than one semester
· Hours will be 20-30 hrs. per week
· May require sedentary work, such as sitting at a desk, for prolonged periods of time.
