As a member of the IT Management Team, you are responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of employees. Your role includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables. However, your role as a leader within our organization requires more than the management of resources and day-to-day operations. As a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and execution of your team’s strategic vision and plan and ensuring that your team’s actions align with the larger goals of the company and the IT Division.

IT Management Team, the Manager of Sustained Engineering will lead a team that provides analytics, observability, and engineering support to infrastructure teams. This role involves overseeing the development and execution of team strategies, ensuring alignment with company goals, and maintaining strong relationships with business stakeholders. You will be the key point of contact for process improvements, reporting, and ensuring that Lifecycle Analytics adequately supports infrastructure needs.

The Manager will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure while leveraging the latest technologies. You will be responsible for creating and managing a team that provides support for the full lifecycle of data pipelines, observability frameworks, and infrastructure optimization. Your leadership will shape the performance and success of the team and ensure alignment with both technical and business objectives.

MEMBER SERVICE: Provides and ensures staff provides an exceptional member experience.

ADMINISTRATION: Ensures proper department coverage (writing schedule and break aids if needed). Understands department budget, able to research and explain budget variances.

MANAGING PERFORMANCE: Coaches and mentors employees to provide support and guidance. Has regular open and honest conversations with employees to discuss work performance and career development. Identifies learning opportunities to strengthen employee knowledge, skill and ability.

COMMUNICATION: Regularly shares information with employees via meetings and one-on-one conversations. Successfully navigates difficult conversations with employees, members, and suppliers. Listens, expresses empathy and adapts to get points across. Addresses issues immediately to ensure a timely resolution and to avoid escalating the situation. Consistently demonstrates business knowledge during interactions with senior management.

SELF-MANAGEMENT: Demonstrates sound judgment, taking a partner when necessary. Ability to maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation or in intense, hectic situations.

COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY: Takes measures to ensure employee and member information is kept confidential and adheres to IS security policy.

Team Leadership and Development:

● Leads, mentors, and inspires a team of engineers and analysts, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

● Establishes clear goals aligned with business objectives and drive team performance through coaching, guidance, and accountability.

● Serves as a role model for leadership and technical excellence, ensuring high levels of motivation and engagement.

Observability and Infrastructure Strategy:

● Guides the development of observability frameworks, ensuring visibility across services, applications, and infrastructure components.

● Drives the adoption of best practices for logging, metrics, and monitoring to improve system reliability.

● Leads the optimization of cloud infrastructure (Azure, GCP) for scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency, incorporating automation and best practices.

Data Engineering and Analytics:

● Oversees the design and operationalization of automated data pipelines supporting BI, analytics, and APIs.

● Ensures data pipelines are efficiently ingested, transformed, validated, and available to stakeholders.

● Applies advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to derive actionable insights, driving business outcomes.

Collaboration and Communication:

● Partners with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business needs and goals.

● Acts as the primary conduit between your team and senior leadership, effectively communicating progress, challenges, and solutions.

● Fosters a culture of open communication and inclusivity, ensuring transparency and engagement across the team.

Performance Management and Process Optimization:

● Coaches team members to achieve performance goals and provide professional development opportunities.

● Identifies process improvements and leads initiatives to optimize workflows, automate tasks, and enhance system performance.

● Ensures data quality, integrity, and reliability across all pipelines and systems through testing and validation processes.

Customer and Stakeholder Focus:

● Ensures exceptional service and support to infrastructure teams, delivering reports, dashboards, and project updates that are accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

● Develops and maintains strong relationships with business teams to understand solution needs and deliver optimal results.

● This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).

Required:

● 12+ years of experience in defining direction for engineering or operations organizations.

● Proven experience managing and mentoring cross-functional teams, driving organizational change, and achieving business results.

● Knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies (networking, storage, compute) and experience with Data Warehousing, SQL, and Data Analysis.

● Strong understanding of monitoring, metrics, event streaming, and log analytics.

● Expertise in Data and Analytics technologies including ETL/ELT, Data Science, Data Lakes, and cloud platforms (Azure, GCP).

● Experience working with business teams to define solutions and process improvements.

● Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

● Off-hours work may be required, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on-call responsibilities.

Recommended:

● Master's degree, or equivalent work experience.

● Previous experience in supply chain operations, infrastructure capacity planning, or management of transformation projects.

● Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, time-series databases (Prometheus, InfluxDB), and observability tools (Grafana, PowerBI, Datadog, Splunk).

● Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Pay Range: $135,000 - $200,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
