WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE:
- Plan and perform a variety of duties involved in design, development, and continuous improvement of production machinery, equipment and facilities.
- Review new product designs for integration onto the production floor.
- Assist in maintaining nVent’s compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental requests.
- Advise and assist maintenance personnel in solving equipment problems and machine repairs.
- Develop and implement plans for cost reduction and plant efficiency improvements.
- As a project leader, develop a complete project plan including resources, costs, benefits and schedule; assume full responsibility for all aspects of the project to ensure it meets goals and schedule; communicate project status to stakeholders as appropriate; and follow up to ensure project results are sustained.
- Work with operators, team leaders, value stream managers, and planners to optimize process center layouts and designs incorporating material flow and line balancing.
- Use lean tools, communication skills and leadership abilities, lead and facilitate kaizen activities encouraging multi-functional groups to participate, and meet common goals.
- Contribute to the development of the annual business unit nVent Integrated Management System (PIMS) implementation plan based on value stream maps, the annual business unit metric deployment and management system assessment to drive waste reduction while improving employee safety.
- Lead and support capital expenditure requests and implementations using basic cost justification and business management principles.
- Engineering Change Order (ECO) processing - authorization of product and documentation changes.
- nVent Performance Issue (PPI) responses - formal communication on issue resolution for field performance issues.
- Interaction with production, purchasing, and operations management on daily plant matters.
- Develop tooling, fixtures, gauging, instructional aids, improved layouts, etc.
- Development of standardized work and revisions to it based upon continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintenance work order requests - support the completion of equipment and facility enhancements to promote safety, quality, and cost/service improvements.
- Develop and implement plans for cost reduction and plant efficiency improvements.
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering is required.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment within engineering.
- Intermediate user in computer programs including AutoCAD, Solid Works, MS Office, MRP (JD Edwards preferred), etc.
- Basic knowledge, classroom and/or project experience in PLC, Electronics, Hydraulics, Welding methods, and Robotics.
- Experience in implementing and leading Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.
- Experience using DMAIC/PDCA concepts in a project environment.
- Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment is a plus
- Preferred experience: robotics and automation, progressive dies and stamping, PLC and controls, Six Sigma Greenbelt or statistical analysis
