About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled IT Network Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid role based in Houston, with the main office being your home. You will occasionally need to come into the office to check out the network stack and travel to Austin as needed. This role will support both sides of our company, which consists of approximately 375 employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and maintain the existing network infrastructure in Austin, set up by a third party.
- Assess and decide whether to stick with the current Cisco stack or switch to Juniper.
- Provide specialized IT networking support with a strong emphasis on networking.
- Collaborate with a small IT team (previously consisting of 6 members) to ensure seamless network operations.
- Travel to Austin occasionally for network evaluations and maintenance.
- Act as a one-person show for IT network engineering, with support from an IT operations support technician.
- Build reports and collaborate with the team to address network issues.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience as an IT Network Engineer (not a network ops engineer or ops engineer).
- CCNA certification is required.
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, network cloud, and cybersecurity protocols.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a hybrid work environment.
- Proximity to Houston is preferred due to the majority of the company being based there.
- Willingness to travel to Austin as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to balance technical expertise with effective communication.
Nice to Have:
- Pharmaceutical background is a plus but not necessary.
- Mid to senior level experience.
