Position Summary


Location: Hybrid (Greater Portland, OR Area)

Duration: 10 Weeks (June 9 - August 15, 2025)

Hours: Full-time, 30-40 hours per week

Pay: $18/hour

As a Technical Surface Design Intern, you'll support the technical side of surface design while having opportunities to lean into the product development process and creative side projects. This role is ideal for someone eager to apply their Adobe Illustrator skills in a professional setting while also assisting with technical aspects of surface design. You'll work closely with the Product Development team and gain first-hand experience in the end-to-end apparel and print creation process.

What You'll Do:

  • Technical Surface Design
  • Support in the creation and overview of artwork packages in Adobe Illustrator
  • Develop artwork packages, adding required information including measurements and color chips, create seamless repeated patterns, swatches and checking for accuracy
  • Trend/market research
  • Deliverable : Create a portfolio of artwork packages used in Hanna's design process and original artwork for your print design collection.
  • Business Impact: Artwork packages are sent to vendors in order to receive physical submissions to review before proceeding to production. This process ensures accurate information is being sent to external vendors in order to reduce communication and improve submission accuracy.


  • Artwork Operations
  • Drive the creation and maintenance of the Seasonal Artwork Library
  • Develop an artwork number and color code creation with our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Adobe Cloud swatch library
  • Deliverable: Evidence of your developed expertise using our PLM system and Miro.
  • Business Impact: Strong tool skills ensure accurate information and artwork alignment between the greater design team and cross-functional partners.


  •  Inspiration and Bought Sample Management
  • Support the management of inspiration and purchased samples
  • Develop a system to organize inspiration samples and purchased samples in-office in partnership with your manager and the Director of Surface Design
  • Deliverable: Evidence of your contributions to the creation of a digital documentation and sample management process.
  • Business Impact: The in-house sample management and documentation process ensures our essential materials are handled with care and are easily accessible to the greater team.

    What You Bring:

    • Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Surface Design (Technical) , Apparel Design, , or Apparel Product Development.
    • Experience: 0-1 years (internship, coursework, or volunteer work in related fields is a plus).
    • Software Skills:
    • Adobe Creative Suite, with a main focus in Adobe Illustrator (beginner+)Excel/Word (MS Office Suite)
    • Miro (bonus)
    • Microsoft Teams (bonus)
